How to Apply?

For the 2026-2028 cohort, applications for the EMLDS programme must be submitted here. The form is unique for EMJM scholarships and self-funded candidates. EMLDS offers 25 vacancies for this cohort. The first 15 students ranked will be awarded EMJM scholarships.

To apply for the European Master in Linguistic Data Science, applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized higher education institution by January 30th, 2026, corresponding to at least 180 ECTS.

All candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English. Candidates whose first language is English or who earned a degree taught exclusively in English are exempt from submitting proof of language proficiency. All other candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting standardized English language test scores. The consortium agrees on the CEFRL B2.2 English or higher level to be admitted to the programme. 

Applicants who have passed the eligibility criteria are evaluated by the Joint Admissions and Examinations Committee, which prepares a ranking list based on the following criteria:

  • Academic merit/relevant professional experience (40%)
  • Motivation letter (35%)
  • Letters of Recommendation (25%)

Applicants will be required to submit the following documentation:

  • ID document.
  • The electronic version of the graduation diploma must be in English or one of the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, or German. Diplomas must show the corresponding scales by the bachelor’s university or by an official conversion system into the 0-100 scale (e.g. online solution or website).
  • The electronic version of the bachelor’s degree transcript of records must be in English or one of the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, or German. The grading scale must accompany transcripts. Transcripts must show the corresponding scales by the bachelor’s university or by an official conversion system into the 0-100 scale. (e.g. online solution or website)
  • An updated resumé with relevant academic and work experience, in English.
  • A motivation letter (max. 500 words), including future career prospects, research interests, and preferred path, in English.
  • A certificate or proof of English proficiency level. The electronic version of the certificate must be in English or one of the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, or German.
  • Scanned copies of two letters of recommendation, in English or one of the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, or German.

The Joint Admissions and Examinations Committee might require an interview to clarify any questions that might arise from the application package.

Successful enrollment of admitted applicants is subject to the signing of a Student Agreement between students and the Consortium, outlining the rights and obligations of both parties.
