Advanced Topics in Linguistic Data Science

Learning Outcomes

This seminar aims to provide students with knowledge and/or practical experience in innovative, state-of-the-art developments in Linguistic Data Science, as well as in closely related interdisciplinary areas. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

a) Develop critical thinking on key themes and specific issues in Linguistic Data Science research;

b) Identify opportunities, limitations, and gaps in current methods and findings in the field;

c) Acquire skills in relevant and up-to-date theories, tools, methods, and applications;

d) Formulate research and innovation questions and propose appropriate research or solution pathways;

e) Write a dissertation on topics in Linguistics, Data Science, and/or Computer Science in accordance with established academic standards;

f) Prepare and deliver a public defence of research findings, clearly presenting their relevance to the issues under study.
