What is the equivalence of CEFRL B2.2 in other English language tests?

  • TOEFL: 94 or above;
  • IELTS: 6.5 or above;
  • Duolingo English Test (taken within two years of the application deadline): 125 or above.

Are there separate application forms for EMJM scholarships and self-funded candidates?

No. Application for EMJM scholarships self-funded places are submitted through a single application process. EMLDS offers 25 places for each cohort, and the top 15 ranked applicants will be awarded EMJM scholarships.

Does EMLDS have quotas for students from specific countries?

No. However, in accordance with European Commission regulations, EMLDS must ensure geographical diversity among its students. No more than 10% of the total scholarships may be awarded to students of the same nationality.

What bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) is required to be eligible for EMLDS?

There are no requirements regarding a specific degree programme.

Can I apply if I have not yet completed my bachelor’s degree?

Yes, provided that you will have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognised higher education institution by DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED and that you are able to provide the official bachelor’s degree diploma as part of the application documentation (and NOT a provisional document)..

Is there an application fee?

No.

Will visa support be provided?

Yes. We will provide all the necessary documentation and notify the relevant Portuguese Embassies that you have been selected as an EMLDS student.

When should I apply for a visa?

You should begin the visa application process as soon as you accept your place in EMLDS.

Will accommodation support be available?

Yes. Support is provided in the form of information about available accommodation options and guidance on university accommodation application procedures.

Is there an age limit for the programme?

No.

Are there any nationality restrictions for the programme?

No.

If my application is incomplete, can I submit or update documents after the deadline?

Please read the application guidelines carefully and submit any questions in a timely manner. Changes or additions to the application package after the deadline will not be accepted.

If I am awarded an EMJM scholarship, will I receive the stipend before arriving?

No. Scholarships are processed after the Student Agreement has been signed. The agreement will be signed on the first day of classes at NOVA or UNICATT, and stipend payments will be processed within 15 days.

If I accept a self-funded place, can I later apply for an EMJM scholarship during the programme?

No. Scholarships are limited, and students enrolled as self-funded candidates are not eligible to apply for an EMLDS scholarship during the programmen.

I have previously received an EMJM scholarship. Can I apply for another EMJM scholarship through EMLDS?

No. According to European Commission regulations, former EMJM scholarship holders are not eligible to receive a second EMLDS scholarship.
