Lexicography

The Lexicography seminar aims to develop students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of Lexicography. By the end of the seminar, students will understand the scope and objectives of Lexicography, the contribution of Lexicology and semantic theory to the development of lexical resources, the relationship between lexicographic design and user needs, and the key challenges of contemporary Lexicography and Metalexicography.

Upon successful completion of the seminar, students will be able to:

a) Understand the key concepts and principles underlying lexicographic description.

b) Conceive, design and compile lexicographic entries for different types of dictionaries and lexical resources.

c) Apply, evaluate and critically reflect on current methodologies and tools for lexicographic editing and the development of lexical resources.
