Lexicology

The Lexicology seminar aims to develop students’ theoretical knowledge and analytical skills in the field of Lexicology. By the end of the seminar, students will understand the role and significance of the lexicon within grammar, appreciate the complexity of lexical properties, and become familiar with the principal theories and models used to describe and represent lexical knowledge.

Upon successful completion of the seminar, students will be able to:

a) Understand the scope, objectives and applications of Lexicology, as well as the key theoretical and empirical issues addressed within the discipline.

b) Demonstrate knowledge of the principal theories and models of Lexical Semantics.

c) Analyse, describe and model lexical units using appropriate theoretical frameworks.
