Speech Processing

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit approaches the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the different technologies that make up automatic human-machine interaction systems based on spoken language, such as automatic speech recognition, biometric speech recognition, speech synthesis, and spoken dialogue systems. The students will develop skills and competencies:

a) to understand and master the processes of human speech generation and perception.

b) to know and use basic pattern matching and signal processing techniques applied to speech.

c) to understand and master the concepts of acoustic modelling, language modelling, and its use in speech recognition and synthesis.

d) to know and use speech technologies related to automatic speech recognition, speech synthesis, and biometric speech recognition.

e) to develop spoken dialogue systems.
